'Chinese Journal of Underground Space and Engineering' formerly known as 'Underground Space' magazine, was founded by an international cooperation between the former Chongqing Institute of Building Engineering and Underground Space Research Center, the University of Minnesota in 1981. In 1986, it was publicly issued after being reported by the Ministry of Construction and approved by the National Science and Technology Commission. In July 2004, in response to a notice from the Ministry of Science and Technology (No.12 of Finance Letter), the journal' Underground Space 'was approved to be renamed as 'Chinese Journal of Underground Space and Engineering'. In 2005, it was officially launched under the new name of 'Chinese Journal of Underground Space and Engineering ', and the publication period was changed from quarterly to bimonthly.
'Chinese Journal of Underground Space and Engineering' is co-sponsored by Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering and Chongqing University, and it is hosted by Chongqing Society for Rock Mechanics and Geotechnique. After years of efforts from the editorial department, the journal has a significant impact on similar journals. It has now joined the 'China Academic Journal (CD version)', 'China Journal Network', 'Wanfang Data Journal Network', 'Weipu Data Journal Network' and 'Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database'. It has been successfully selected into 'China Science Citation Database (CSCD) Core Journals', 'National Chinese Core Journals', 'China Science and Technology Papers Statistics Source Core Journals', 'RCCSE China Core Academic Journals' and so on.
As the most representative and earliest academic journal in the development and utilization of underground space in China, the editorial department of 'Chinese Journal of Underground Space and Engineering' strictly controls the quality of publication to achieve the results of high average citation rate of papers. Since its inception, it has been favored by experts and scholars in this field in China. It introduces the scientific and technological achievements of urban underground space engineering in China and the development and utilization of urban underground space in developed countries. It publicizes the relevant scientific and technical achievements of basic theory and experimental research, new materials, new technology and new construction methods, new ideas and new forms of underground space development and utilization at home and abroad, and makes due contributions to the development and utilization of underground space in China.
With the rapid development of China's economy, many cities have launched or planned the development and utilization of underground space, such as subways, light rails, and underground shopping malls. The development and utilization of underground space in China has entered a flourishing period, and 'Chinese Journal of Underground Space and Engineering' has also ushered in unprecedented development opportunities. It is believed that with the support of relevant leaders, experts, scholars and friends from all walks of life, this journal, as an important academic and technical exchange platform in the field of underground space development and utilization in China, will be better and better.
